The most 'funnest', coolest, shortest cut to healing. There is an epidemic spreading through America. Overworkitis. Somehow, somewhere along the line, we collectively decided to believe that we are supposed to work really hard, make lots of sacrifices, squash our dreams, think passion is only for special people and limit the word fun from our vocabulary. I’m here to take a stand against that mumbo jumbo and attempt to show you the other side of the coin. If you are pursuing your passion and work feels fun, then great, you are on the right track. But there are so many Americans who were raised with certain belief systems that they continue to cling to and believe as true when it isn’t THEIR truth. It’s their parents’ or teachers’ or societies’ truth. “ I have to work hard to pay the bills.” “Money doesn’t come easy.” “ Life is a struggle.” These are only a few examples. I’m sure you can figure out which ones you have held on to and see as true. And when we see them as true, our mind will continue to show us examples of these statements for the rest of our lives, so we can continue to prove ourselves right. But living here allows us to only see such a small piece of the pie. I believe in a good Universe. I also believe that if we are too closed minded to believe there is good out there, we will never see it. So my burning desire is to invite you to be open. Just be open to seeing things differently. Be open to life being fun or money coming easily or actually enjoying your job. Be open to being wrong about everything you know. Because “everything you know” is technically a bunch of stored information in your brain that you gathered from well meaning parents and friends and society. But what makes that the truth? Your truth? Your own personal truth lives within you and has all the answers you need for your highest good. Your road to peace. There are many paths there. I have been attempting to travel down a few different ones over the past 5 years of my spiritual awakening. Which makes me a great person to tell you about a short cut. First you need to let go of the idea that life is a hard, crappy, struggle and be open to seeing the love. Second, you need to play. I’m giving you the permission. Do things you enjoy doing. Every day. Make time for it. Play. Be silly. Go outside. Take breaks. Go on vacation. Trust that by doing these things; you will experience more love and healing than you’ve ever imagined possible. When we play, have fun or enjoy ourselves, we are connected to our true self and when we are connected to our true self our heart is open, and when our heart is open we are vibrating high, and when we are vibrating high, we are receiving light and love and healing and giving light and love and healing. In the space of play, we create space in our mind. We give our mind a chance to breathe, to stop thinking so much. And in the space of breathing, new ideas enter into our mind, healing enters our bodies, light touches our hearts. These new ideas are the divine ones that live beyond thought. They are the ones that will give us the answers to an easier, more abundant life. They’ll tell us who to call to make easy money, or what class to take to start pursing your passion. Any idea imaginable, that is more true to you, can come through in this space. But if you continue to live the belief that life is hard, you’ll never see these new thoughts. I’m here to tell you that new, loving thoughts are on their way to you all the time, 24 hours a day, because we are born love; we are made of love. That never goes away. The only reason we don’t feel it sometimes is because we are lost in thought and then believe that thought as true. So, I’m giving you a crazy, rad short cut here. And it’s fun! Go do your hobbies. Take up a cooking class, garden, read a book, have more sex, watch your favorite romantic comedies, take walks, adopt a dog, go camping, whatever it is that makes your heart smile. And if you don’t know what that is yet, be open to finding your joys. Write a list of what you loved to do as a kid and then what you plan to do when you retire. Then do more of that stuff NOW. I’m giving you permission to play. Give yourself the permission too. If you don’t believe me, look at other countries. They take more vacations, days off, naps and long meals than we do. They are as a whole, happier and healthier than America. I think they’ve got it figured out. When you are sucked down the thought storm, thinking you need to work more, find that little kid inside that so badly wants to come out and play and let them. Let them breathe! They will pay you back ten fold. It may feel scary to pull yourself away and play every day, but experiment with it and then tell me how wonderful your life is opening up, tell me all the new ideas that flood in, tell me how much more calm and creative you have become. If you need my support to remind you to play, then write me. I’ll be your rock here. I know it’s hard to pull away sometimes. But just remember: Play and the healing shall pour in. Play and your connection to your heart will open. Play and the sunshine will seem brighter. Play and life will be fun again. I know it’s one of the hardest things in the world, when you realize you are doing something that isn’t serving your highest good. You may realize it on your own, if you are an inward seeker like me or someone might gently point it out because they are an outside observer and love you and wish for you to climb over a wall you seem to be creating for yourself. Or you may keep attracting the same “not so fun situations” over and over again until you are hit over the head will the whole “Ok, I guess this thing, or these thoughts aren’t really working for me anymore.” When you have these realizations you may want to deny them, refuse them, push them away or even keep doing that thing you know is crud because it feels comfortable and doing something different feels off. But if you want to be the best version of yourself, if you want to know who you really are and if you want to feel awesome then it may be in your best interest to take notice. These awarenesses are little gifts from the Universe. Little nudges saying, “Hey, maybe this isn’t working anymore and I know you, and you’re so way cool and I know a better way for you to exist that is filled with love.” Dang, the Universe talks?! Cool!!! What I do when I have these realizations that something isn’t working for me anymore, is sit with it a minute and say, “Huh, what is this thing all about?” For example, a tendency of mine is to feel bad when I’m in other people’s spaces, like I’m putting them out. I also tend to apologize a lot for things I’m not even supposed to be apologizing for. When I actually saw myself doing these things instead of doing them unconsciously, they didn’t have so much power over me anymore. They were no longer hidden. After noticing this, I decided I was going to use my voice, stand proud in my space and do the opposite of what my mind was telling me to do. What my mind was telling me to do wasn’t true anyway. It was only subconscious patterning I picked up from the past. So, as I choose to be assertive and unapologetic, it feels way funky, but I watch people’s reactions. They are unphased by my “new” behavior. It seems like a way bigger deal to me in my head than the actual reality of it. Being brave enough to do this shows me that it is all in my mind and I can practice being the true, assertive, awesome version of me, no sorrys included. Now, I do say say sorry when I need to! I’m not a total diva. If you aren’t familiar with the realizations I’m talking about then just put out a little prayer; a little intention. “Universe, show me gently and easily what isn’t working for my highest good anymore and show me what to do to heal it. Or you can even sum it up by saying, “Clear what isn’t working for me anymore gently and easily.” Then you’ll start naturally noticing these things pop up gently and be guided as to what to do to heal them. There are many things you can do to heal the old patterns not serving you anymore. Use the one that feels right for you. I will go into more detail about specific ones in later posts. I love using EFT or Reiki or Sedona method just to name a few. You can also just notice that the pattern is false and old and then it you won’t take it as truth and listen to it anymore. This way, it passes and your innate inner wisdom can tell you what to do next. Most importantly be gentle with yourself. When you live this type of life it can be easy to see all the things you think are “wrong” with you. But remember that everyone has things they are working though. And you choosing to see them and change them makes you incredibly brave and awesome. Don’t forget that part. I’m taking a course right now on “An End to Anxiety” because most of my life was spent in an anxious state. By the grace of God, I’ve overcome the worst of it. But sometimes, like all humans, it creeps back in from time to time. I wanted to take this course to squelch any residual anxiety for good, as well as be able to teach others to overcome this unnecessary state of being. You aren’t stuck with it. And no, it’s not “normal”. I can promise you this. During this course, I’ve had many aha moments but I had one in particular I wanted to share. Here’s a mini back-story. Ever since I was 7, my body has had physical manifestations of fear and disconnect. I’ve had some fun trips to the hospital from time to time and many years with lots of trips to the doctors digging for answers to many uncomfortable physical symptoms. All of this very scary. As the brain does, it holds on to these experiences so that it can attempt to keep me safe from this in the future. It likes to prevent this yucky time in my life from ever happening again. Anything remotely close to feeling sick or off, my brain has a signal that tells me I better do something to fix this symptom or this uncomfortable thing so I don’t get really sick or end up in the hospital. My brain is well meaning but it is very much so based in the past. It isn’t here in the present with me. So it’s up to me to take my power back and begin to see that. In this course, one thing we talked about was that sometimes our thoughts seem very personal. When you have a lot of thought about something, it begins to feel personal because it is something that is very important to you or you’ve lived it before. There is a lot of energy or attention generated in that area. Seeing it this way kind of helps you see outside of things that seem to really upset you over and over again. If you can look outside of it and notice its a pattern your mind has had for a long time because a lot of attention has been given to those particular thoughts, you can see that your mind is just reliving the past and isn’t seeing the truth that the present moment has to offer. But the truth is always here. It just may be a little hidden. So my realization… These last four years of trying to fix what was wrong with me may have just been based on a thought pattern and not the actual truth. My mind was scared. And of course it would be. It innocently was telling me to go to a doctor, or eat a certain way, or take a lot of supplements or go to healers all the time. I do agree that some of that may have been necessary. But now I see that many of the choices I’ve been making about my health came from an old pattern of fear, not the truth. So once I realized this, I’m way more aware of this pattern my mind has and I can see it now. It’s no longer hidden. So I wait to make sure these urges to take care of my physical body are coming from a calm intuitive place and not a place of fear. I’m thankful for this aha moment. This was my miracle. A miracle is a shift in perception from fear to love. Ask for yours too. “Show me how to see this differently? Show me peace instead of this? And watch for a new take on an old thought happen miraculously. If you want to dive deeper into this, I teach workshops on these topics as well as one on one coaching sessions. We can create a plan to help you reconnect to your true self in an affordable way that is best for you. I’ve been there and I want to show you it’s so possible to be happy! Sending hugs today.
